About Us

Dressed on your own terms.

Somewhere after forty, the high street quietly changes its mind about you — and keeps cutting for the body you had at thirty. The waist has moved, the arms want covering, the fabric that used to skim now clings. The shop you've bought from for twenty years starts dressing you like your daughter — or like your mother. Sleeves that stop halfway, waists that sit in the wrong place, fabrics that need a prayer, and a "classic" range that looks like it gave up. Nobody says it out loud. They just stop looking.

We don't accept that. A woman over forty knows exactly what she likes, has the money to buy it, and deserves clothes that were cut for her body and her life — not a teenager's, not a retirement home's.

Own Terms chooses coats, dresses and knitwear for that woman. Pieces with a proper shoulder, a waist where yours actually is, sleeves that end at the wrist, hems that land where they should. And because "it didn't fit" is the most expensive sentence in online shopping, we measure every piece laid flat and put the numbers on the product page — the garment length in centimetres, per size, with a plain note on how it runs. If it's wrong, you email us and we swap it.

Who we dress

Women who are done with the changing-room lottery. Forty, fifty, sixty — the number changes, the wish doesn't: to open the parcel, put it on, and look like yourself again.

The Fit Check

Every piece on this site is checked for five things before it goes on sale: a shoulder seam that sits on the shoulder bone · a waist where yours is now · sleeves that reach the wrist · a hem that lands where it should · fabric that drapes and never clings. Then we measure it laid flat and put the numbers on the product page — length, sleeve, shoulder, bust and waist, per size, in centimetres. No other word on the page matters more than those numbers.

Our terms, your terms

The high street has always set the terms: this is the cut, this is the size, take it or leave it. We turn that round. Our terms are the only ones we hold ourselves to — every length in centimetres, every piece through the Fit Check, exchanges without the fuss, and never anything fake: no countdowns, no invented reviews, no "only 2 left". Your terms are everything else: what you wear, when, and for whom. That's why we're called Own Terms.

Where we are

We're a small, independent team based in the Netherlands, designing and measuring for the UK. Every order ships tracked, with all UK taxes included — no customs, no surprises. Our full company details are at the bottom of this page and on every policy page, where they belong.

What we promise

  • Cut for a grown woman. Proper shoulders, real waists, sleeves that reach the wrist.
  • Real measurements, every time. Garment length in centimetres per size, from the piece laid flat.
  • Honest fit notes. If it runs small or generous, we say so before you buy.
  • Easy exchanges. Wrong size? Email us and we'll sort a swap.

We're a young brand and we'd rather earn your trust slowly than claim it. If something isn't right, tell us — info@owntermslondon.com reaches a person.
